As a designer I am frequently asked questions on how to find you ultimate Plus Size Wedding dress. To assist you on your journey we have a few of the popular FAQ:

Q: Do I need to book an appointment?

A: Yes we run an appointment only service.

Q: Do you design white and more traditional dresses?

A: Yes of cause. In our Couture Dressmaking service we will design and create the dress of your dreams. Our Prêt-à-Porter custom made collection is white/ivory.

Q: What sizes do you design or carry?

A: We are a Plus Size service so carry dresses in a size UK 12 to 26. Sorry we do not cater for brides smaller then a UK size 12 but can refer you onto designers that do.

Q: When should I start looking?

A: We suggest eight 12 months before the wedding. Our Couture Dressmaking service takes at least 6 months whilst our Prêt-à-Porter takes at least 4 months. The more time allow for us to create your dress, the happier you’ll be with it!

Q: Money advice?

A: Kemi Farquharson founded Kemi Boutique with a passion to provide Luxury and Designer gowns to Curvy Brides-to-be at affordable prices in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Please Please share with us your budget as early as possible. We are able to service brides within a budget of £500 to £1500 and want to ensure the gowns and services we share with you are within your budget. We never want you to fall in love with a dress outside of your range.

Q: How do I prepare for the appointment?

A: Your time is all about you! Please bring along your wedding folder any images you may collected already. Our Couture Dressmaking service or Prêt-à-Porter custom made services are designed to bring your wedding dress dream to life within your price point.

Please do not wear makeup or heavy perfume, this is to protect our sample dresses and to see the fabrics and dresses against your natural skin.

Wear a good supportive strapless bra and full, high-waisted supportive pants.

Bring along a pair of shoes of roughly the same height you’ll be wearing on the big day.

If you have long hair it can be a good idea to bring along a hair band so you can see how each dress looks with your hair up or down.

We ask that you take extra care with our sample dresses!

Q: What about my measurements and alteration appointments?

A: For our Couture Dressmaking service you will be invited back for a complementary consultation. Full details will be provided at your appointment.

Q: What can I expect at the appointment?

A: We will commence with a style assessment, followed by trying different styles of gowns. Once you are happy with the style we will look at different dresses, fabrics and finishing within the style. We are here to assist you on your journey and will never pressure a customer to make a sale. There are no obligations or costs in the appointment or consultation stage.

Q: Who should I bring with me?

A: You may bring along one person to accompany you. Normally this will be a best friend sister or mum. Choose someone who will give you good advice and be supportive of your decisions.

We are not able to accommodate babies in buggies or toddlers. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Q: How many fittings can I expect?

For our Couture Dressmaking service  you can expect on average three to four fitting.

Both our Prêt-à-Porter services come with one complementary fitting. All following fittings will attract a fee.

We recommend your last fitting should be 2 weeks before your special day.

Q: Can I take photographs?

A: No we do not allow pictures to be taken at any time during appointments and will enforce this policy strictly. This is to safeguard both our designs and the integrity of our profession. Your are welcome to take pictures at YOUR dress fittings your fittings.

Q:  I am getting married abroad, will you have an option for me?

A: Yes of cause. Let us know at you appointment on the country and session of your wedding date and we can advise you according to climates and cultures.

Q: Who do I pay for my dress?

A: For all our services a 50% non refundable or transferable deposit is payable upon your order. The balance is payable upon delivery or collection of your dress.  We accept payment by Credit/ Debit cards, Paypal, Bank Transfer or Cash.

Q: What is your refund policy?

A: As all our services are bespoke or per-ordered to your specification we have a strict no refund or exchange policy on our dresses, as such we offer a 14 day cooling off period before we commence work on your order.

Q: Do you offer a dress hire service?

A: This is something that we have been asked a few times. Whilst we do not currently offer this service as standard, please fee free to contact us and discuss your needs. Kemi Farquharson became a bridal designer because of her personal experience when getting married, I am sure she will work something out for you.

Q: Do you sell bridesmaid dresses?

A: Yes we offer a bridesmaids service exclusive to Kemi Boutique curvy brides-to-be. This is not available as a stand alone service.

Q: What do you think of low cost wedding dresses available on the internet?

A: You get what you pay for! We are a designer service and can only comment on the personal, professional and quality service we provide.

Q: Anything else I should know?

Please do not to have a spray tan 2 days before your appointments as it can rubs off on the dresses. We reserve the right to rearrange your appointment to safeguard our dresses, and we will not take responsibility for any stains that may affect your dress…. if in doubt do not spray tan for that week!
